Search Engine Marketing Tips
In Part 1, I have mentioned 5 tips on SEM. In Part 2, I will continue to give you more tips:
6. Internal Text Links & Image Alt attributes
Your link descriptions and image alt attributes should be clear and descriptive to the users and search engines. Do not let them wonder where the click will lead them to. Creating doubts will make the users hesitate and choose not to take any risk. By using the keywords in the descriptions and attributes can greatly enhance the search engines visibility.
7. Ad Copywriting
Writing a compelling ad for the key pages based on the keywords and target audience is crucial. So make sure the keyword rich contents are visible to the search engines, and not buried in some of the search engine unfriendly components like flash or javascripts. Do not overdo it by cramming too many keywords into the contents. This will make the contents unreadable, and risked being blacklisted by the search engines.
8. Title Tags
Title tags command significant weight from the search engines. Try to include your keywords into the title tags, These keywords should reflect accurately on the contents of your pages, and should be the keywords your target audience likely to use in the search engines.
9. External Links
External links are important. It can greatly increase your search engine visibility. You can request for thousands of links but get none if your site is terrible. But if your site is useful and informative, others will link to you without you asking them. You may want to trade links, but make sure that the other website is relevant and of certain quality. Linking to a bad website will lower your ranking in the search engines.
10. Landing Page
Landing page is the first page others see when they “landed” on your website. This site may be the homepage, service page, or even a micro-site created for “landing” purpose. The landing page has to be relevant to what the users expect. If the ads mention a 10% discount on a MP3 player, the landing page should display the promotion, otherwise the users may find “cheated” and leave the site.
Doing all the steps correctly will increase your targeted web traffic very quickly. Do not be too obsessed with ranking and click through rates, instead focus on the increased traffics, sales and conversions, which are ultimately your goals.
